Quote of the Week
"The hard way is the easy way."
Most people spend their lives trying to avoid difficult things. I've found the opposite is true. The hard conversation, the hard workout, the hard savings habit, or the hard decision today usually creates an easier life tomorrow. That's the idea behind this podcast—and this newsletter.
My Take
In my own life, I've found this idea rings true in almost every area.
Financially, it can be tempting to chase the next shiny purchase, upgrade vehicles, or spend money simply because everyone else seems to be doing it. Choosing to delay that gratification hasn't always been easy, but those sacrifices have given me more freedom later in life. Instead of feeling tied to every paycheck, I've been able to build options and create more control over my future.
The same applies to health. There are plenty of mornings when I don't feel like getting out of a warm bed to train. But I've learned that a hard workout today is far easier than dealing with poor health or trying to regain fitness years down the track.
For me, "the hard way is the easy way" isn't about making life difficult for the sake of it. It's about accepting that the right choices often require a little more effort today, but they usually make tomorrow a whole lot easier.
Question of the Week
What's one hard thing you know you should do this week that your future self will thank you for?
This Week's Episode
🎙️ Episode 1: Andre October — Money, Property & Financial Freedom
Andre is a mortgage broker, investor and entrepreneur. In our first conversation, we discuss money, property, long-term thinking, and financial decisions that can create more freedom over time.
Although the conversation covers finance, it also reflects the core philosophy behind The Mile Extra: making the harder, often less glamorous choices today to build a better future.
